2024 Kofi Annan Courage in Cartooning Award
Under the patronage of Dr. Shirin Ebadi, Nobel Peace Prize laureate, and journalist Christiane Amanpour, this 2024 edition paid tribute to the struggle of Iranian women and celebrated women editorial cartoonists

The 2024 Kofi Annan Courage in Cartooning Award, honoring outstanding contributions to human rights and freedom of expression, was presented on May 3, 2024, World Press Freedom Day, by the Freedom Cartoonists Foundation to cartoonists Rachita Taneja from India and Zunzi from Hong Kong. The award was handed over by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Dr. Shirin Ebadi of Iran and renowned CNN journalist Christiane Amanpour.

In front of a packed audience at the Geneva Graduate Institute, this edition paid special tribute to Iranian women fighting for freedom, as well as to female editorial cartoonists. A panel brought together cartoonists Ann Telnaes, Rachita Taneja, and Willis from Tunis.
